Gili Asahan - Eco Lodge
Gili Asahan Eco Lodge: An Island Retreat with Purpose
Ins and outs: Gili Asahan Eco Lodge offers a tranquil escape into nature, with untouched beaches, clear waters, and lush greenery. Thoughtfully designed to blend with its surroundings, it’s a place to slow down, explore vibrant reefs, and connect with the rhythms of island life. The lodge offers plenty of water activities, sup boards, snorkel gear, canoos and treatments at the Aloe Vera spa.
Location: Gili Asahan is one of the lesser-known islands in the southwest of Lombok, part of the Gili Gede archipelago. Accessible by a short boat ride from the mainland, Gili Asahan remains largely undeveloped, offering a rare opportunity to experience unspoiled natural beauty.
Rooms: the lodge offers a range of bungalows and villas, crafted with sustainable materials and traditional techniques. Designed to blend seamlessly with the island’s natural beauty, each accommodation provides a comfortable, eco-conscious retreat. With open-air bathrooms and private terraces, the design embraces a barefoot luxury experience.
Food and Drinks: meals are offered at Nautilius, the open-air beach pavilion perfectly located to witness the sunset during your dinner. The menu is mostly Italian-inspired with some local and plant-based options. Ingredients are sourced locally wherever possible.
Care: the team has initiated the "Kids of Asahan" program to help educate local children and provide fair wages for teachers. The solar power generated by the hotel supports the whole community. Additionally, the lodge employs eco-conscious practices, such as constructing accommodations from sustainable materials, like using logs they find drifting in the ocean, and integrating designs that harmonize with the environment. There is a strict no-plastic policy to protect the island.
Unseen: the lodge is home to a small herd of rescued horses, part of an initiative to provide them with care and freedom after years of hard labor. You can learn about the ongoing efforts to support their wellbeing and paritcipate in a walk with the horses along the beach, offering a deeper connection to the island’s commitment to harmony between people, animals, and nature.
